A Boy Wizard, Homer, A Green Ogre, A Pirate Captain..and a Spider - man....Coming to a Cinema near you.......
Harry, Homer, Spidey and Captain Jack are heading to a big screen near you in an upcoming onslaught of blockbuster film releases.
The new trailer for the fifth Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix has just been released online and will begin screening in cinemas soon, before the film's July 13 release.
But Harry is just one of the stars set to heat up the box office in coming months, in what is expected to be a record year for the film industry.
The June-July period is always a busy time for cinemas, as it coincides with the Northern
Hemisphere's summer, but this year is expected to be even busier than usual.
Hemisphere's summer, but this year is expected to be even busier than usual.
The Motion Pictures Distributor's Association said this year was set to be huge with the release of several major film franchises, including the final instalment of Pirates of the Caribbean.
Spider-Man 3 will be the first major box office challenger, due for worldwide release next Thursday, May 3.
At an estimated US$250 million ($335 million), the film is rumoured to be the most expensive ever made, though producer Laura Ziskin refused to confirm the exact budget of the film.
Given the film's two predecessors success - the first grossed US$822 million, the second US$738 million - Spider-Man 3 is expected to more than make up for its extravagant budget.
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End is also expected to draw record crowds when it hits cinemas in New Zealand on May 24th. It's predecessor, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, become the 3rd highest grossing movie of all time last year, taking in $1.2 billion dollars.Only 1997's Titanic and 2003's The Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King have made more.
2007 is set to be a year of sequels, with the release of Shrek the Third on June 7th, Ocean's Thirteen on June 14th, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer on June 21st , and The Bourne Ultimatum on August 10th.
But perhaps the most long-awaited film to reach theatres this year is The Simpsons Movie.
After years of rumour and speculation - the idea for a Simpsons feature was first floated in 1990 - the animated movie is in the proverbial can and due for release on July 26.
Though the film is not expected to contend with major blockbusters like Pirates or Potter, film industry analysts anticipate it will still draw significant crowds.
